What we do

We currently work in 22 countries around the world, and serve more than 300,000 children, youth and aging persons with the generous support of more than 250,000 sponsors.

Child sponsorship

What differentiates CFCA's Hope for a Family sponsorship program from other sponsorship organizations is that we work with each child in the context of the whole family, recognizing that the child's well-being depends, in large part, on the family’s well-being. We recognize that what impacts the family, particularly the mother, affects the child.

Youth sponsorship

Young women and men in the Hope for a Family sponsorship program know the best way to help their families is to finish school. It is not uncommon for youth in developing countries to leave school to help their family make ends meet. We are committed to helping students stay in school and complete their education so they can create a better future for themselves and their families.

Sponsorship of the aging

We are the only major U.S.-based sponsorship organization to sponsor the elderly. Through our Hope for a Family sponsorship program, the aging receive benefits that focus on providing better nutrition, access to health care, adequate housing and social activities. Some sponsored aging members also participate in skills training or income-generating workshops. Most importantly, they are welcomed into a caring community and feel less alone.

Programs focused on specific needs

We have a variety of programs and initiatives that help families living in poverty in specific ways. These programs not only address immediate needs, but focus on long-term solutions that can help families live more dignified lives and become self-sufficient. We fund livelihood programs for parents, sustainable food programs, housing programs, health and sanitation programs, and programs that support families following a disaster, among others.
